Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information TASPO collects through www.taspo.org, why, and what choices you have. Last updated: 2 October 2026.
1. Who we are
TASPO – Tanzania Student Plan Organisation is a registered non-governmental organisation in Tanzania (registration no. OONGO/R/1910), P.O. Box 236, Singida, Tanzania. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us about privacy at support@taspo.org.
2. The short version
- You can read this website without telling us who you are.
- We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't run analytics tools that follow you around the site.
- We only receive personal information when you choose to give it to us, for example by emailing us or making a donation.
- We never sell your information.
3. Information we collect
When you contact us. If you email or phone us, we receive your name, contact details and whatever you choose to tell us.
When you donate online. Online donations are made on a secure checkout page run by a third-party payment provider. The payment provider handles your card or payment details; TASPO never sees or stores them. We receive the information needed to record and confirm your gift, such as your name, email address, the amount and the date.
When you donate equipment or partner with us. We keep the contact details and correspondence needed to arrange the donation or partnership.
When you visit the website. Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when pages are requested, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages visited. This is used to deliver the website and keep it secure. We don't use it to identify you.
4. How we use your information
- to reply to your questions and messages
- to process, record and confirm donations, and to keep the financial records the law requires
- to arrange equipment donations and partnerships
- to send you updates about our work, if you have asked for them; you can stop these at any time by emailing us
- to keep the website running and secure
We use your information because you have asked us to (for example, to answer your email), because we need it to handle your donation, because the law requires it (for example, financial records), or because you have agreed to it (for example, receiving updates).
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information only where needed to run the website and our work:
- Our payment provider, which processes online donations under its own privacy policy.
- Our website host, Vercel, which delivers the website to your browser.
- Our email provider, which stores the messages you send us.
- Authorities, if the law requires us to.
Some of these providers may store or process information outside Tanzania. Where that happens, we choose providers that protect it to a recognised standard.
6. Cookies and other websites
This website doesn't set its own cookies. Some pages load content from other services:
- Google Fonts. Our fonts are loaded from Google's servers, which means your browser shares its IP address with Google.
- YouTube. The video on our albinism awareness page uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which doesn't set YouTube cookies until you play the video.
- Links to other sites, such as our payment provider, the TASPO Taskbook app, Instagram and Facebook, are covered by those sites' own privacy policies once you visit them.
7. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it. Emails are kept while we're in contact with you and for a reasonable time afterwards. Donation records are kept for as long as accounting and legal rules require. When information is no longer needed, we delete it securely.
8. Keeping it safe
We use reputable service providers, limit access to personal information to the people at TASPO who need it, and take reasonable steps to protect it from loss or misuse.
9. Your rights
Under Tanzania's Personal Data Protection Act, 2022, and similar laws elsewhere, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- delete your information, where we don't need to keep it by law
- stop using your information for updates or other purposes you have agreed to
To make a request, email support@taspo.org. We'll reply as soon as we can. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Personal Data Protection Commission of Tanzania.
10. Children
This website is for a general audience. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children through it. Our work in schools is arranged with schools and teachers, not through this website.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
